This painting was made with the intention of reminding comic frames. According to the way you look at the painting (each separate element) you could form your own story. Two of the most notable references are the tradition of paintings with girls looking out of a window (especially the one of S. Dali) and the comics of Corto Maltese by H. Pratt (for the clouds and perhaps the atmosphere).

This portrait was a request of a friend of mine for a portrait of her father. She wanted a full realistic result on a small sized canvas with him rearing his favorite red polo shirt. I don't know if Ι should have softened some of his wrinkles in order to prettify the final result but Ι must admit Ι enjoyed working on and recreating the heavy relief of his face. The work is based on photographs.

A portrait for the uncle of a friend of mine. The painting is based on a small grayscale photo id quite extremely saturated -which resulted on much imagination (from my behalf) in order to fill in the details.

This work is consisted of two paintings. The left one is based on the work St. Sebastian (1480) by Andrea Mantegna -while the other is based on the landscape of Gaza (in Palestine). In the first painting at the left the human figure of the saint is replaced with a mannequin. At the background there is an imaginary view of Athens.

This painting has a direct influence from some of Picasso's works (especially those in the movie The Mystery of Picasso, by Henri-Georges Clouzot). I wanted to create a geometrical painting (hiding somehow its geometry) with at least three big color zones.

Another tree painting. This one was gifted to a friendly couple. I used earthy colors and gold for the leaves. It's a decorative painting playing with the different reflections of gold depending of the view position and the light.

In this work i tried to avoid the human-like mannequins (like the ones Dali or Engonopoulos used before) and use the standard model everyone can buy in art stores. Despite the fact that its pose is humanlike I think it's a choice that adds to the symbolism of the artist.

Behind it there is the city of Gaza and heavy clouds that resemble the smoke that coming from the dropped bombs. The painting was inspired by the Israeli attack on the ships of Free Gaza the spring of 2010.

(There is another very similar painting associated with Gaza. You can see it here)

This is a study painting working like a poster with a figure of dead man and the yellow sign of police Crime Scene Do Not Cross. The word Hope inside the head gives out the rather cliché meaning of the painting.

We Want Everything

Summer of 1969, Italy. A year after May '68, FIAT workers began a dynamic and unmediated strike against their powerful boss. Their struggle marked the beginning of a decade of workers' and students' mobilizations and the rise of the Autonomy movement. It was characterized by many as the last invasion of the working class into the sky. Last ... let's hope until the next one ...
